This is one of the most characteristic flavors of
Lebanese cuisine.
At breakfast in Lebanon,
Delectable man’ouché are served –
Warm pancakes slathered with zahtar and olive oil!
In Arabic, Zahtar means thyme.
It is a mixture of thyme, toasted sumac seeds and sesame seeds.
Zahtar can be purchased ready-made.
Use Zahtar:
. To marinate skewered chicken cubes;
. In labneh;
. Over a salad of tomato and fresh goat cheese.
