Simple things are best enjoyed when the ingredients are absolutely perfect:
Fragrant olive oil,
A good crunchy and airy baguette, and
A ripe and juicy tomato
(in Catalonia, a variety of tomato is grown
Specifically for the purposes of this recipe!)
Cut the entire fresh baguette into two lengthwise.
Rub it with the flesh of the tomato cut in half,
Drizzle with olive oil,
Salt lightly,
Cut into individual slices, and serve.
- The bread can be warmed up once cut into two lengthwise.
- Some people like to rub a clove of garlic over the bread!
